Muscle Pain in Legs Causes

One of the most commonly reported and cited causes of muscle pain in legs is trauma, and this can be from a car wreck, sporting injury, brawl, or some other cause. In other words, your leg pain can derive from internal causes and not just external blows.

Muscle pain in legs most often affects three primary nodes of the legs. The lower legs and calves, hamstrings, and quadriceps are the three areas most commonly affected. While most sporting enthusiasts are familiar with these areas and occasionally twist and turn them in the midst of their athletic activities, ordinary people may become frightened when they get struck with persistent and chronic muscle pain in the legs. It can be aggravating or distracting. Stretching the muscles regularly can help thwart the muscle pain.

Muscle pain in the legs can be brought about by alcoholism, hypothyroidism, kidney failure, medications, metabolic disorders, and pregnancy. People with these conditions should not be overly worried when their legs start to act up. People can also have psychosomatic causes of leg pain where they bring it on themselves because of stress.

Sometimes, muscle pain can spring up in the legs because of previous injuries in unrelated areas from several years ago. A sprain in the ankle might creep up and start giving your knee troubles, for instance.

A few of the common diseases that portend muscle pain in the legs include varicose veins, blocked arteries, phlebitis, gout, sciatica, and venous insufficiency. Furthermore, different diseases affect different parts of the leg. Paget’s disease, for instance, can cause pain the calves. Anterior knee pain can be caused by rheumatoid arthritis. Leg pain can be caused by venous insufficiency.

Vitamin deficiency, notably, vitamin B1, vitamin B5, and vitamin B6 can cause muscle pain in the legs. Make sure to eat lots of eggs or take B-complex supplements. Poor circulation can also cause leg pain because of the buildup of lactic acid. Buildup of any chemicals in the muscle tissues can cause leg pain so it is advisable to detox your body regularly with exercise and green food supplements which clean the blood.

Sometimes, muscle pain can go hand-in-hand with bone pain, ligament pain, joint pain, and other forms of arthritic pain so it is helpful to differentiate the exact location of the pain with a chiropractor rather than treating it without really knowing the cause.
